The Hardest Holes in Alberta

Challenging the holes across the province that will forever leave us scratching our heads.

The Hardest Holes in Alberta

For your viewing pleasure, the #GolfLifeAB team will lay their reputations on the line to take on the toughest golf holes in Alberta while the camera is rolling. Let the hilarity commence!

Episode #1 - The Quarry Golf Club (Edmonton, Alberta)

While there are a number of golf holes from The Quarry that could have probably been the stage for our inagural episode of this video series, our man Ryan and the club’s Director of Golf Taylor Scinski took on the Ironstone loop’s closing hole.

The 9th hole plays 436 yards from the back tees presenting a number of issues on the tee shot, the approach and around the green. Just don’t play it like Ryan did…

The approach to Ironstone 9 is to narrow and long green with trouble on both sides. You defintely have to be accurate to make a good score on this hole!

Episode #2 - Coal Creek Golf Resort (Ryley, Alberta)

460 yards of asking the question “what am I supposed to do?” The course’s 9th hole is infamous for its difficulty. While Coal Creek is famous for its black sand this hole doesn’t have any of it so the challenge is presented in a number of other ways. Ryan hopes to redeem himself after his episode 1 performance. Thank you to GM Jerry Lukasewich for having the team out and taking the time to talk about the course and the hole.

Note: this video was made the summer prior to the renovation of the course’s 9th hole duing the fall of 2021.

The drive is the most important part of Coal Creek’s 9th hole! Find some short stuff (without flirting too much with the 150 marker) and the rest of the hole is yours for the taking!
