FAQs

What is the Alberta Golf Tour (AGT)?

The Alberta Golf Tour provides a professional tour-style experience in a flighted amateur golf tournament series for players of all ages, abilities, and genders.

Rules Sheet

What is included in a tournament entry?

All tournament fees include your round of golf, range, $20 AGT Bucks into your flight's prize pool, $10 Food & Beverage voucher (unless otherwise specified), and a power cart unless you choose a walking option.

What are “AGT Bucks”?

AGT Bucks are the prize pool money in each flight that everybody competes for. Payout is dependent on the number of people in each flight, and can be viewed here. Players may use AGT Bucks to pay for future AGT Tournament entries, or in any Pro Shop we have events at. Many players will save AGT Bucks throughout the year to help pay for their entry into the Tour Championship. AGT Bucks will roll over for one calendar year.

Am I good enough to play on this tour?

Absolutely! We encourage players of all skill levels to try it out. The lower handicapped flights are more competitive, while the mid to high handicapped flights have more camaraderie and social aspects to them.

Do you use net or gross scoring?

After flights are determined by handicap, tournaments are gross stroke play (unless otherwise specified) within each flight.

What are “OOM Points”?

OOM Points, or Order of Merit Points, are earned by each player in every tournament, based on their placement in their flight, and can be viewed here. The number of points available are based on the number of players in each flight. Our President's Cup event at the end of the year is a 2-day team match play event which offers invites to players based on their standings in Order of Merit.

Do I need a membership to play on the Alberta Golf Tour?

No membership is required to play the Alberta Golf Tour. However, you do require a valid, verifiable Golf Canada Handicap Factor. There is an annual fee for this through Golf Canada as you will require a Gold Membership. You can join here: join.golfcanada.ca

What is a “Major” and do I have to qualify?

Our Major Tournaments are 2-day, 36-hole tournaments where players can earn double OOM points. You do not need to qualify for Majors, they are open to all players.

What is Presidents Cup and how do I qualify?

President's Cup is our year-end 2-day team match play tournament. The Top 2 in OOM will become the 2 Captains, and Co-Captains will then be picked. Qualifying for the President's Cup is based on Order of Merit Standings. Players who receive invites and were a part of the previous year's winning team have the option to be locked to the same team. Invites after any declines from the Top 32 may be dependent on handicap factor and will not necessarily go in order.
