They started out as opponents on the ice, became roomies in university, and our now business partners selling genuine, hand-made leather headcovers. Jeremy and Kevin want to create products that Albertans are proud to represent and we’d say they’re doing one hell of a job.
Explain the name. Why Cover and Hyde?
Our buddy Jakey actually deserves the credit for the name. We were going back and forth with a few ideas for a while after we had our first “prototype” cover made up, he came up with Cover & Hyde after a couple beers and we loved it. Pretty simple, head covers out of leather hides, we spelt Hyde wrong in our first logo run, but ended up liking it better, so it stuck.
Why do you guys love golf?
As a couple of average golfers, when it comes down to it, we just love hanging out with our buddies, playing little money games, having a few beers, listening to music, and getting the competitive juices flowing. Golf is an incredible medium for all of those things. We are excited about the way golf is evolving with this new wave that is bringing back some original style and individuality to the sport.
What kinds of products do you offer?
Right now we offer driver and blade putter head-covers and a selection of hats. We have been working on fairway-wood covers as well as a mallet putter cover that we hope to launch in the next few weeks here. We have some sweet graphic tee’s and long sleeves that we are super pumped about and should be up on the site in the next week or two – so keep your eyes peeled!
What made you want to get involved in the industry?
We were sitting in a class a few years ago and were talking about golf/Alberta/style etc. and kept coming back to how we thought there was room to add some more Alberta flare in golf accessories. We made a few (really shitty) prototypes but those first few covers sparked an interest and so we kept it going. We are definitely still a work in progress, but we are having a blast with it.
