Calcutta Golf Co.

If you've ever played in a calcutta the idea is to wager on the team or player that's hopefully going to cash-in big and send you home with a few extra bucks. We're willing to put our money on Calcutta Golf Co. to become a huge success and keep people looking their best on and off the golf course for years to come. See what we did there?

From a twilight round that takes you straight to downtown Calgary, Calcutta Golf Co. wants you to keep it casual on the golf course without sacrificing any style for when you're out bar-hopping with your friends. Best part is, you'll be the best looking one in either setting.

Explain the name. Why Calcutta Golf Co.?

Always enjoyed the “Golf Calcutta” gambling while playing in best ball tournaments growing up. I do all the graphic design myself and after working on a few different ideas for names and logos this one was it.

What are your goals for the business and within the industry?

Currently we are just all about having fun, making some products that people love and enjoy wearing.

Derek, why do you love golf?

The friendships, friendly competition, the community, the overall challenge, the mental aspect of the game. I am forever grateful that my Dad got me into the game at a young age. To watch it change after 20 plus years of playing has made me love the sport even more now.

What does #GolfLifeAB mean to you?

I think it represents how great the game of golf is in Alberta. Also the lifestyle, the courses, the people, the community involved to keep this great game thriving through the years. Especially after this past golf season!

I’m all for making golf more accessible for people to get involved and play. I would love to see dress codes become a little more on the casual side.
