2021 GolfLifeAB Awards

We are incredibly excited to announce the Inaugural GolfLifeAB Awards! This idea has been years in the making, and part of that is because we may have been overcomplicating things in our own brains - after all, we never want to let you down! But, realistically, we’re never going to know how we could improve until we just go ahead and do it for the first time, so here we are!

The process is super easy - we have a Google Form you can fill out, pass it to all your friends or members to fill out, and then we have a People’s Choice winner! We’ve decided in order to give fair recognition around the province, there are some awards that are better off as regional with multiple winners, and then some awards will be province-wide.

Please share with as many people as you can - the more feedback we get, the more accurate these awards are going to be! Here is a quick breakdown/ explanation of all the awards given. Please note: at this time, private clubs are not eligible for any awards with the exception of Best Reno/Upgrade and Best Practice Facility.

REGIONS

  • 1) North

  • 2) Mountain

  • 3) Central

  • 4) and 5) Metro (in and within 50km radius of Calgary & Edmonton)

  • 6) South

The REGIONAL Categories with 5 winners are:

  • Best Value: course condition divided by green fee equals value

  • Hidden Gem: a great course outside any major urban area

  • Best Greens: best condition of the greens. Sometimes this means difficult greens, but we are only talking about the conditioning (rolling true, speed, etc)

  • Best 9-Hole Course: for those of us who might be short on time, or live in rural settings, we need to know what the best 9-holers are out there

  • Best Customer Experience: the experience at this course is exceptional from start to finish, unique ways of providing access to the game, along with great customer service and a great product.

  • Hardest Hole: which hole eats your lunch every time?

  • Best Hole: whether it be by views, design, scorability, or interest - best hole is up for interpretation how you see fit. All opinions welcome!

The PROVINCIAL Categories with only 1 winner are:

  • Best Program/Lesson Series: this doesn’t have to be specifically at a golf course, but recognizing those who have thought outside of the box to provide a service

  • Favourite Destination/Resort Course: Alberta has many beautiful mountain resort courses, but also many amazing RV resort courses. Get creative here

  • Best Renovation/Upgrade: this could include something on course such as holes or greens being renovated, or upgrades to an existing clubhouse, a new clubhouse, etc.

  • Best Golf Event(s): amateur or professional, competitive or charity fundraisers, what are the best golf events you’ve attended this year?

  • Best Local Business: there are a ton of local golf businesses (have you seen our Support Local section?) with a lot of big fans. Pick ONE - who’s your best bet?

  • Best Practice Facility: Indoor, outdoor, dome, grass, warehouse, you name it - where is your favourite place to work on your game?

  • Best Indoor Facility: lots of unique indoor facilities have been around, and they’ve had a tough couple of years, so let’s recognize them. Where is your fave indoor golf place?
