#neilerknows: Ryder Cup Captain

Is anyone still vibrating from that PGA Championship final round? I was driving home from Calgary listening to it on the radio and was fired right up. You know those looks you get from people when you’re just jamming out to your favourite Rihanna song? And then you lock eyes with the driver beside you  but instead of catching you singing you’re fist pumping and slamming the steering wheel cheering for Tiger? No regrets. Last week’s Pick: Daniel Berger at the 100th PGA Championship Final Standing: Daniel Berger – T12 (-8)Summary:  #BergeratBellerive pushed my man to a very respectable top 15 after it was looking very dire after the first round. So with the hype surrounding Tiger I think it’s fair to look directly to the Ryder Cup. Sorry FedEx but after the crowds and atmosphere that Bellerive produced we have to look at the next dramatic chapter in Tiger’s comeback and the stage that he’s setting for his return to the Ryder Cup at Le Golf National.8 guys have already made the team from amassing the most Ryder Cup points. Let’s take a look at who the States are sending to France at Le golf National.https://twitter.com/RyderCupUSA/status/1028819789651824641Ugh Webb Simpson. But come September 4th Captain Jim Furyk will pick 3 of his 4 Captain’s picks with his final pick coming on September 10th. And he’s doing a real good job at making all of us Tiger fans real angry about not committing to him right this minute. Obviously he’s not going to announce it prior to the 4th and he’s doing a fantastic job to push story lines and keep the panellists talking for a month. But God forbid you make us wait until the 10th to select him. There will be riots. So, as we do with this article I’m going to lay it all on the line and make my captain’s picks if I was in the shoes of Jim and see what you readers have to think: Hot take: I don’t take the Mad Scientist Bryson (who finished ninth and one spot out of the automatic eight spots) because he’s crazy and his game is all over the map right now. CRAZY. Wildcard: Tony Finau. Based on his Major record probably not much of a wild card but I feel the Ryder Cup teams are some exclusive club that someone would need to die before an invite would even be considered. So the rookie would be a tough pick with the other guy’s I’d have to consider. Would love to see it but let’s get this man some President’s Cup experience first.

The Picks:

  1. Tiger Woods

  2. Phil Mickelson

  3. Matt Kuchar

  4. Kevin Kisner

Kuch, Phil, and Tigs will all be announced on the 4th with Kisner announced on the 10th. There’s nothing crazy about these picks, nothing too shocking in my opinion, but should be the players that make the journey overseas. And quite frankly I don’t think the Europeans stand a chance. The European team still has 3 events to gain some points before the team’s first 8 is a lock so we’ll have to wait before we take a stab at standing in the shoes of European Captain Thomas Bjorn. Who would round out your American squad? I think we all know that Leah would probably be picking Mr. Woodland and Phil on her team. Let us know by interacting with @GolfLifeAB and myself @10Neiler on Twitter and by leaving some comments as well!
