#neilerknows: Ryder Cup Captain part 2

With the European Ryder Cup Captain’s picks coming out tomorrow we look at Part 2 of #neilerknows’ attempts at being a Ryder Cup Captain and make some selections for the European team in place of Thomas Bjorn. As I had mentioned a couple weeks ago I think Team Europe doesn’t stand a chance of coming out of this year’s Ryder Cup alive. The only question remains is “how many points do the Americans win by?” and right now it seems all of their guys are playing some of their best golf at the moment. It could be a massacre at Le Golf National. So in hopes of at least making the tournament a little more entertaining here are four picks that I would take on the European team just to give the fans a good time.

Jesper Pernevik

His style alone would give the team at least 1 point.

A post Carnoustie Jean Van De Velde

The decision making on each shot would leave European scratching their heads and finishing their drinks!

Miguel Angel Jimenez

The most interesting man in golf. Need I say more?

The ghost of Seve Ballesteros

probably the kind of guy this team needs to actually win a couple points. Even as a ghost. So adding this all star line-up of captain’s picks would be fun but ultimately impossible. Let’s bring it back down to earth and select some more likely candidates.

The Captain's Picks:

  1. 1. Ian Poulter - See below.

  1. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwLo_ygTpSU?rel=0&w=560&h=315]

  1. 2.Paul Casey – have you seen the forearms and calves on this man?!

  1. 3. Rafa Cabrera Bello – with no Sergio there has to be at least some Spanish flavour on the team. Vamos!

  1. 4. Thomas Pieters – solely for the Rory partnership. Having a partner for the team’s biggest threat is crucial for the team scoring any points.

Wildcard:

Eddie Pepperell. He blessed us all with the amazing interview after his final round of the open and is definitely worth a follow on Twitter. Can you imagine the quotes that would be coming from him the week of a Ryder Cup? It would be too good to even fathom. They say hindsight is 20/20 but it looks like my decisions as American Ryder Cup captain were way off. So let’s see if my time as the European stand in will be any better. Captain Bjorn will make his picks Wednesday, September 5th at 2pm BST (which I think is British Standard time?) so when we’re waking up the picks will have been made. Who do you have making the European team? Who do you figure is going to win the Ryder Cup? Who do you think Captain Ryan would have made a better captain for? Let me know by interacting with @GolfLifeAB and myself at @10Neiler on Twitter or by leaving some comments down below!
