Not too long ago ScoreGolf magazine released their official Top 100 Canadian Golf Courses list which featured 13 courses from our beautiful province. The disclaimer that reads before the list is as follows:

"According to a 2017 Golf Canada/PGA of Canada facilities report there are 2,051 18-hole equivalent golf courses in Canada. Which means the courses here represent the country’s top   4.875 percentile. This is not an easy list to make.”

Which is their version of saying: don’t freak out when you don’t see your favourite course on this list because our country is massive and we have to cap it at 100. But it provides a good way for platforms (like Golf Life Alberta for example!) to open this up for discussion and debate which courses are ranked too high, too low, and which got snubbed altogether. So let’s take a look at what the folks from ScoreGolf ranked some of our province’s best tracks and discuss:* 2. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge – Jasper, Alberta 3rd in 2016 6. Calgary Golf and Country Club – Calgary, Alberta 25th in 2016 53. Windermere – Edmonton, Alberta 61st in 2016 56. Glencoe (Forest) – Glencoe, Alberta 35th in 2016* 68. Wolf Creek (Links) – Ponoka, Alberta 56th in 2016* 71. Priddis Greens (Hawk) – Priddis, Alberta 50th in 2016* 73. Kananaskis Country (Mt. Lorette) –Kananaskis, Alberta not ranked in 2016 75. Northern Bear – Sherwood Park, Alberta 78th in 2016* 83. Wolf Creek (Old) – Ponoka, Alberta 60th in 2016 92. Royal Mayfair – Edmonton, Alberta 59th in 2016

*6 of the courses have been played on the Alberta Golf Tour this year.

Noticeable omissions:

• Kananaskis Country (Mt. Kidd) due to unfinished rebuild at the time of ranking.

Something very noticeable with most of the Alberta courses listed above is a slide down the rankings with the Royal Mayfair taking the biggest hit moving down the list 33 spots.  Bad year for courses in Alberta? We all have a soft spot for some of our beautiful Alberta tracks and sadly they aren’t going to make a top 100 list for courses across our country. But we want to know what do you think of the list?
